 | The Department
The Communication Systems Department aims to provide leadership in defining new systems/solutions for tomorrow's communication needs in collaboration with other departments/external organisations as well as introduce system engineering concepts in the execution of complex projects.
To achieve the first objective, it works closely with other departments in identifying and developing core technologies and integrating them to form total system solutions for communication problems.
The Department would also look at technologies from potential application point of view and would define systems which can implement those solutions.
By incorporating system engineering concepts for complex projects, the Department would strive for desired objectives such as modularity, scalability and reusability of our systems. It would also define methodologies and architectures which should enable us to achieve optimum solutions, integrating new research outputs with past results.
Hardware - Software co-design and system engineering methodologies would be developed to improve the reusability of our research outputs for multiple applications. This systems approach would be further extended to cover end to end user applications.
It also focuses on real time software and embedded system design and development to translate research outputs to functional prototypes.
The Department has latest development tools and would follow latest design methodologies to implement concept-proving prototypes in a timely manner.Key Competencies Communication System/Architecture Design, Embedded Systems and Real Time Software design Development, System Level.
These competencies would help us conceptualise new systems using existing competencies and identify competencies for new systems. Click here for the Communication Systems Department infosheet. |
