In assisting the local industry to upgrade its technological competitive advantage, I²R or through A*STAR launched industry-wide initiatives or programmes for the benefit of the local information, communications and media (ICM) industry cluster.

Consortia
The consortium approach, a grouping of industry and research partners with common goals, benefits members through cost sharing, accelerates the adoption of emerging technologies.

Feasibility Study & Technical Evaluation

I²R also works with companies on an individual basis from feasibility study, technical evaluation to technology prototyping.

Proof of Concept and Proof of Value

I²R supports SPRING’s Technology Enterprise Commercialisation Scheme (TECS) which aims to catalyse the formation and growth of start-ups based on strong technology Intellectual Property and a scalable business model. Start-ups can leverage on I²R’s technology IP to minimize the R&D risk and seek for early-stage funding such as the TECS’s Proof of Concept (POC) and Proof of Value (POV) to further the R&D efforts towards the commercialisation of proprietary technology ideas.

Innovation Voucher Scheme (IVS) 
To encourage SMEs to tap on the extensive engineering and resource base of knowledge institutions (KIs) to innovate and implement technology projects, SMEs can apply for an innovation voucher from SPRING worth S$5,000 to pay for consultancy and technology services at participating knowledge Institutions.

I²R is one of the participating KIs with research capabilities in information technology, wireless and optical communication networks, interactive and digital media, signal processing and computing.
