It’s not just ordinary folks but the disabled,
too, who are reaping the benefits of modern technology. Institute
for Infocomm Research (I²R) is actively pursuing new research initiatives
through its arm - New Initiatives Department.
Over the past 30 years, speech technologies,
which include the likes of speech recognition, text-to-speech, and
natural language understanding, have improved by leaps and bounds.
The future of radio signals is set to unfold more
exciting discoveries with the introduction of Radio-over-Fibre (ROF).
With the aid of ROF, radio signals can now be directly transmitted
over optical fibre links to transparently distribute radio signals
over many areas, and at a lower cost than deploying many base stations.
