Institute for Infocomm Research

April 2004 Q2 issue

Another issue of @work comes your way, hot on the heels of the first issue! We hope it brought you some useful information on I²R technologies directly at the convenience of your desktop.

The inaugural issue of @work was well-received. Compliments and words of encouragement were conveyed to us and we are grateful for this support and interest. It has also motivated us to strive our best to share technology news in I²R.

In this issue, we are featuring the award winning reference model for scalable lossless coding in MPEG, Advance Audio Zip (AAZ), in Technology@work. Also, not to be missed, the highly accurate and multi-functional DRAGON system used for genomics and drug discovery as well as the robust and anti-collision Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) systems.

In the Industry Development column, learn about a completed project on Residential Gateway. The list of forthcoming events keeps you updated of what I²R has in the pipeline.

We welcome your feedback and look forward to including news of potential collaborations with your organization in future e-newsletters. Our website, http://www.i2r.a-star.edu.sg, is a rich repository of information and we invite you to visit it often.

Please feel free to forward this e-newsletter to your friends and colleagues.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Lawrence Wong, Professor
Executive Director
