shine at top awards
In the third quarter of 2007, the achievements by our
researchers put I²R
in the limelight. Two research teams’ research efforts
were recognized separately in two prestigious awards ceremonies.
Institute of Engineers Singapore (IES) Prestigious
Engineering Achievement Award
Led by Dr. Liang Ying Chang, the I²R
team developed a set of cognitive radio technologies
to exploit the under-utilized television (TV) bands
for wireless broadband services. The technology is able
to intelligently detect and make use of under-utilized
spectrum, thus enabling the wireless networks to operate
without requiring extra dedicated spectrum.
This is the third consecutive year that I²R
researchers have won the award. The team included: Ang
Chee Wei, Ashok Kumar Marath, Francois Chin, Hoang Anh
Tuan, Kong Peng Yong, Lei Zhongding, Leon Wing Seng,
Liang Ying Chang, Xu Changlong and Zeng Yonghong. |
